Nearly 300 nurses Interviewed in Cuba as Part of Recruitment Exercise
Officials from the Ministry of Health have interview two hundred and seventy six (276) nurses in Cuba from various specialty areas as part of a recruitment exercise under a bilateral agreement with that country. The nurses are to be placed both in primary and secondary care.
The team travelled to Cuba two weeks ago as part of efforts to recruit 114 nurses in year one of a two year agreement. “Another team from the Ministry will be travelling to Cuba before the end of August to interview physicians. This would essentially complete the process of getting replacement and new persons for the first year of the new contract,” Minister of Health, Hon. Rudyard Spencer said. Minister Spencer explained that there has been a six month extension of the technical cooperation agreement with Cuba, which ended July 25, 2011. The agreement now goes until December 25, 2011.
