The North East Regional Health Authority (NERHA), a statutory body under the Ministry of Health with responsibility for the management and delivery of health care and public health services within the parishes of St. Ann, St. Mary and Portland is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons to immediately fill existing vacancies for Dental Nurses throughout the Region.

The ideal candidate will meet the following minimum qualifications:

·    Graduation from an approved institution as a Dental Nurse

·     Registered with the Dental Council of Jamaica

·    First Aid Certificate

Job Summary:

·     Instructs children, teachers, organizations, community health committees, parent teachers associations and other similar bodies in oral health care, assists them in maintaining proper dental health habits

·    Carries out routine examinations; prepare treatment plan; submits selected treatment plans for review by clinics dentist; implements treatment plan as required

·    Evaluates periodontal health, performs prophylaxis which includes scaling, cleaning and polishing teeth to remove tartar and other deposits
