St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital received a suitcase filled with medical supplies from Rachel Belanger from Ottawa, Canada, who is with the group, “Not Just Tourists” and Verona Cooper with “Mission of Love Project” earlier this month.
The Jamaica National Heritage Trust in collaboration with the Jamaica Tourist Board has initiated two corporate projects called: “Mission of Love” and “Adopt a School”. Co-coordinator for these two programs is Verona Cooper who is employed to the Jamaica National Heritage Trust and is also a Goodwill Ambassador for the Jamaica Tourist Board: “Meet the People program”.
The” Mission of Love” project is one in which Organizations or Institutions are identified based on their needs and how they can be helped, assistance is rendered accordingly. The Jamaica Tourist Board through their Meet the people program allows for the free flow of these endeavors, since persons who normally sign up for this program either from North America or Europe also volunteer their services in securing items relevant to the need of these Institutions.
“Not Just Tourists is a group of volunteers who prepare suitcases full of medications and documentation for transport by tourists to countries where these medications might be in short supply.”
Items in the suitcase, that were donated to St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital, included glucose/diabetes monitoring equipment, urinary obstruction treatment supplies and wound care supplies.
